Deirdrie LoVerso
Author/Illustrator/Publisher
Deirdrie LoVerso was born in New York, NY to a father who was a popular singer and a mother who was aspiring to become a lawyer. Born in 1973, she was talented in the areas of singing, writing, drawing, and speaking (excellent diction and articulation).
Deirdrie's first love had always been singing and had a love for the arts at a very young age. She was an active member of the New York City based acting schools HB Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Prim and proper as she was, she even graduated from the charm/etiquette school Barbizon located in mid-town Manhattan (NYC) around the corner from famous Madison Square Garden.
She was a member of Arista/The National Honor Society (NHS). Deirdrie, also, was tested in 1983 (3rd grade) and found to be a gifted child with a higher than average I.Q. This automatically qualifies her to become a member of MENSA if she so chooses. It may be a bit difficult to keep up with her vocabulary level, clever brand of humor, and incessant conversational use of metaphors and analogies.
So, where did her love of writing come from? She always had it, yet never thought to make a career out of it! She wrote one of her first songs at the age of 6 and was constantly writing both songs and poems.
She always had an idea in her mind of a song to write, a story idea to jot down or even an outfit to sew. Her creative juices were spilling out all over the place.
But, in 2007 she grew wary of having so many ideas and never bringing them to completion. Finally, she decided to finish a story that she'd begun. That is when she birthed her first book, The Untruth About the Tooth. The most special aspect of this story is that she dedicated it to her son and wrote him in as the main character.

Always known to be independent and possessing a combination of a Type A and B personality, having a large publishing company handle her books and put them through a metamorphosis was out of the question. Moreover, the idea of actually having to wait for her books to become available to the public was definitely an insane one to her at best.
Therefore, she decided to become her own publisher and own the rights to all of her material without having to obtain permission to use, edit, promote, expand or remove any of her books.
Deirdrie LoVerso never considered herself a great artist. Maybe with formal art lessons she will. Her second manuscript entitled, Jade Made Me Do It!, required a highly skilled artist. After going through four indecisive artists and waiting for two years, she decided to stop waiting for perfection and just illustrate it herself. Hence the reason she is an author, publisher, and an illustrator!
